  2. get it in gear

    Hello guys,

can someone tell me what "get it in gear" (follow link for further context) means?

    http://www.starwars.com/episode-iii/explore/sithsnap/2006/02/sithsnap20060213.html

    Thanks in...
  3. Re: Sicilian dialect: I can't wait to see you!

    Pretty literal translations  :D

I would say in italian: Non vedo l'ora di vederti!
And in sicilian (catanese): Nun viru l'ora di/ri virìriti!
  4. Re: Il vostro film italiano preferito

I think "è ambientato" is more common than "si svolge".
    So:

Questo film è ambientato a Lampedusa.

    :)
  5. Re: sotto-progetti

  6. Re: Bella Madre and Beda Madre (Sicily)

Si scrive "Bedda Matri", senza la "r" in "Bedda".

Immagino che ce la mettiate basandovi su come ci sentite pronunciare le doppie d nei dialetti siciliani :D, cosa che ho notato riesce alquanto...
  7. Re: Help.

That is not correct italian, but:

Ho dormito tutto il giorno oggi = Today I've slept all day
il desiderio uccidersi = Wish to kill oneself...
  8. Re: the mystery has been revealed

Secondo me tra le due suona meglio la "mia" versione :D tuttavia si tratta solo di gusti personali, entrambe sono corrette e significano la stessa cosa ;)
  9. Re: the mystery has been revealed

    Il mistero è stato svelato.
  10. Re: Dialect of Catania

In catanese to sleep = dormire = dòmmiri (or ròmmiri).
So, "dommi" or "rommi" is catanese, I don't know if it is "sicilian" ;)
  11. Re: Dialect of Catania

I'm catanese, sicilian dialects are quite different from italian, but most people here (especially younger people) speak a mixture of italian and "pure" sicilian making the language pretty...

    Re: dolce mia - translation

    Hi sweetheart, I love you.

    My try :o
  13. Re: Sweet Dreams, Love

Dommi beni, amore (Sleep well, love).

It's catanese dialect. I know it's not exactly the translation you asked, but it's pretty romantic and common here in sicily (or at least in Catania).

    Thread: agida

    by ThePatriot

    Re: agida

I think it's "acido" (acid), used to express "acidità" (bruciore di stomaco).

I'm sicilian, and sometimes when my stomach "burns" (sorry, my english is not good enough to express it better) I say:...
  15. Re: ufizialmente

    radiation woman is right, uffizialmente=officially

By the way ufficialmente is way more common than uffizialmente.

That is my signature, I think it should be visible now. Thanks for your corrections.

    Thread: I want you

    by ThePatriot

    Re: I want you

while you may say "ti voglio bene" to your relatives, "ti voglio" has definetly a sexual meaning so I'd be careful to use it :o
  18. Re: I hope you take the right decision

    They are both correct :)
  19. Re: Can amore be used for a friend too?

Dipende da persona a persona, io personalmente non chiamerei nessuno che non sia la mia ragazza "amore", ma sento che molti invece lo fanno.

Fossi in te non mi preoccuperei ;)
