Significa "avere famiglia" (=avere moglie e/o figli). Lo dicono nel sud Italia.

You're welcome. It means that the subject subjunctive is a ticklish question...
    (but beware of off-topic...)

Sorry, I haven't been so clear
I need an explanation about my 'ho famiglia' and your "Decisamente no. " deep as ""Questione spinosa quella del congiuntivo"

    Regards.

Ah, okay. Sorry for the misunderstanding...!
My 'decisamente no' means that I agree with Fox when he say that 'tengo famiglia' is not used all over the country. And the link to the thread where I said 'questione spinosa quella del congiuntivo' is referring to the correction you made to his post ('che si dica').

L'ultimo tentativo in inglese. Se non si capisce, proverò con l'italiano
I need to know why 'io ho famiglia' is not used all over the country.
I tried to correct that "tengo famiglia" with "ho famiglia" that seem to me is used all over Italy.

    Re: "Tengo famiglia" significa?

Ahahah... now I understand (I hope...)! We was saying that 'io tengo famiglia' isn't used all over Italy, not 'io ho famiglia'...!
It seemed to us you said that in Italian it is possible to say both 'ho' and 'tengo', while the latter is a dialectal construction...

    (come te l'ha mandata? )

    Re: Tengo famiglia

Hi, i noticed that fox71 said that "tengo famiglia" is used in southern Italy, I assume he meant Sicily... Could the use of the Spanish word "tengo" possibly be a remnant of the Spanish Monarchy which once ruled Sicily?

    thanks

    Naples and Campania as well.
Here an interesting contribution on wiki about Romance languages:
Ausiliari: le parole latine HABERE e TENERE sono usate in modo differente per "tenere", "avere", "aver fatto" e "c'è". In francese si dice je tiens, j'ai, j'ai fait, il y a: queste sono rispettivamente derivate TENERE, HABERE, HABERE, HABERE, Quindi "THHH".

See this thread on WRF too.

Thank a lot!!! Those links were very helpful...I guess I kinda forgot that Fiorentina (I believe that's the correct name) is just one of the many Italian languages spoke in Italy...

You're welcome. It is 'il (dialetto) fiorentino', or better 'toscano'. And yes, today it is just one of the many languages spoken in our country, but it was the basis of standard Italian. See HERE.

    Re: Tengo famiglia

Bisogna dire che tiene altro significato nel contexto di 'La Russa tiene famiglia' (di L'Espresso), no?!
