    my friend who sparkles like a diamond

    I want to say "my friend who sparkles like a diamond"
    would this be correct "amica mia chi brillare stesso un diamante" ?

    Just:

    La mia amica brilla come un diamante.

    I think you wrote "stesso" for "like" -- which is really "come".

    Necsus, sorry, I need your opinion: the translation is more literal with "che" but i think that in Italian we could use that "che" only if there were another sentence after 'che brilla come un diamante', whereas I got the impression that the sentence "my friend who sparkles like a diamond" can stand by itself, although there's "who"...

    Do you agree or you think i'm completely on the wrong track?

    Be', in realtà un'eventuale altra frase può essere anche prima, p.e. 'lo dico a tutti che tu sei la mia amica che...'. Ma lo stesso dovrebbe valere in inglese, quindi se c'è 'who' suppongo che ci sia anche un motivo, forse Eric potrà darci un maggiore contesto...

    If I wanted to say "You are sweet as sugar and you sparkle like diamonds.
    Would this be correct to say to her?

    tu sono dolce uguale zucchero e tu brilla simile diamanti

    Oaky, then you'll say "sei dolce come (lo) zucchero e brilli come (un) diamante" (without articles it is maybe a little more poetical).

    I do not speak Italian but you are correct that it does sound poetic.
