    貧乏になる男は「お金持ちは卑怯で打算的だ」と考え、

I was reading a (very useless) website when I bumped into the following sentence.

    貧乏になる男は「お金持ちは卑怯で打算的だ」と考え、お金持ちになる男は「お金持ちは正直で戦略的だ」と考える。

I would have written instead: "お金持ちは卑怯で打算的だ」と考え". Would my version also be correct ? What would be the ensuing difference ?

    Thank you in advance.

This is contrast: poor vs rich, So 考え、is better.

But in speaking, most people mix 考え and 考えて unintentionally. 考えて, more conversational, slightly contains 'and'. But 考えて、is well used in writing, too. Roughly understandable? I can't explain well today.

Using the stem of a verb instead of the te-form is more formal, too. You see that form a lot in newspapers.
