    allegation / claim

    I would the difference between the allegation and claim and which one is suitable for the following sentence:


    "This result is consistent with the allegation / claim stated in the previous chapter."

    Please advise

    Either one could be suitable. It depends upon exactly what it was that 'this result' is consistent with. More context is needed . . .

    Also: What was said in the last chapter? An allegation is not the same as a claim. (Check the WR dictionary.)
