    Ocupada o ocupado

    Hola

I'm a bit struggling with this word which is "ocupado"
A while ago I was asked this question " tu ocupado" should not this sentence be like "tu ocupada" since I'm a female?!
Or is there an exception here to this rule?

If they were specifically talking about you then yes they should have used ocupada since you are a female however if they were talking about someone else who was not a female then ocupado would be used

"tu ocupado" is not a question. Are you sure that's what you heard?

I agree with micafe. Something like

    estás ocupado/a

    would be a question.
A man who begins with certainties will end in doubts. A man who begins with doubts will end in certainties.

Because it's fun, I'll play a guessing game. Was this person a non-native speaker of Spanish? Because then "Tú ocupado?" might be two mistakes on the speaker's part:

    1. Absence of a verb (very common for beginners)
    2. Lack of gender agreement (common for many non-natives, including some of us who really should do better at this point.)

In any case, I agree with the others, ¿Tú estás ocupado/a? is the correct way of asking that.
