I wrote this in my lang-8 journal:

Ésa es mi serie favorita de dibujos animados desde siempre.

Somebody, a native Mexican Spanish speaker, came along and corrected "es" to "ha sido", mirroring the English, "That has always been my favorite cartoon series." I was puzzled by the correction, since I compared it to the following phrase:

La administración de la televisión pública es un desastre desde siempre.

...which I'd gotten from (I'm fairly sure) a native source, but he said that didn't sound right to him either. Does the usage of the present tense with "desde siempre" vary by country?

    Hola:

Ésa es mi serie favorita de dibujos animados desde siempre.
Ésa ha sido mi serie favorita de dibujos animados desde siempre.

Both are correct, I think the first one is pretty much common in Argentina.

En México se usan ambas por igual.

Me parecen las dos bien, pero aquí lo normal es:

Esa es mi serie favorita de toda la vida.

    o

Esa siempre ha sido mi serie favorita.
