Our expression is pretty similar to yours. The verb choice varies according to context, and including of sounds more formal or old fashioned to me:
moved/motivated/inspired/driven by the best (of) intentions

You could translate this as "to have the best intentions". Very commonly in English you'll also hear "to have good intentions".

Edit: I have just read Kelly B's post, and although you could say "moved/motivated/inspired/driven", etc. in my opinion it sounds much more natural to say "have".
