που / όπου (difference?) and "I had already been"

Discussion in 'Ελληνικά (Greek)' started by Σικελία για πάντα, Feb 9, 2014.

  1. Hi Greeks!
I have to say "I arrived in Rhodes, where I had already been twice" , so in my excercise book I wrote: Έφτασα στη Ρόδο, (can't choose between που and όπου) είχα ήδη (been?)

Will you help me please? :)

In formal texts "όπου" is suggested. In everyday speech you can hear/say both.
  3. Grazie mille, Perseas! :)

    La frase completa sarebbe cosi':

Έφτασα στη Ρόδο, (ο)που είχα ήδη πάει δυο φορές (questa e' la traduzione parola a parola, pero' io non l'avrei usata, perche' non mi suona naturale)
Έφτασα στη Ρόδο, ένα μέρος που είχα ήδη επισκεφτεί δυο φορές (anche questa, pero' nota che il pronome ha cambiato da όπου/που (dove) a το οποίο/που (which in inglese, cui(?) in italiano))
