восьмые, шестнадцатые ноты

    one eiths? This has to do with written music, how long you hold the sound. I am not a musician, and don't know the jargon. In Russian, there are целые, четверти, восьмые, шестнадцатые, все разные, как посмотришь на нотный стан. Как обозначить эти доли по-английски?

    целые - whole notes
    четверти - quarter notes
    восьмые - eighth notes
    шестнадцатые - sixteenth notes

    That's true, but for musicians in Britain who are not great mathematicians, the terms in common use are semibreve, minim, crotchet, quaver etc., as show on this neilhawes.com music theory webpage.
