    What is this an abbreviation for? I'm referring to the intensive army courses for learning Arabic and Farsi, for people in the intelligence. All I can seem to find is something to do with OPEC, which is an oil syndicate of sorts.

    I knew that אופק meant horizon, which would make sense for such a course, but I thought that the gershaim (") would mean it is an abbreviation (קצור).

    Where did you see it with gershayim? They could be an error.

    I've seen it twice with gershayim on two separate forums. However, if the aman website itself writes it without them, perhaps it is an error.

    Maybe the mistake stems from the fact that the IDF uses a lot of acronyms that function as independent words.
