    "堅物で通っていた父が何思いけん, 突然ダンス教室に通いだした"

    What does "何思いけん" mean in English? Is this a fixed expression?

    It's an old collocation/literal expression for 何を思ったか, "(I do not know) what he was thinking, but ~", meaning "somehow" or "for some reason".

    何思ひけむ = 何思いけん = 何を思ったのだろうか in classic Japanese.
