    [FONT=맑은 고딕]홈런[/FONT][FONT=바탕]新 can be seen in the sports section of newspapers as a headline. It is a reduced expression of 홈런신기록 to probably save space or emphasize a message. [/FONT][FONT=맑은 고딕]홈런[/FONT][FONT=바탕]新 signifies that a new(新) record in homerun has been made. In my view, the combination of a Korean word plus a Chinese character(新) is kind of old-fashioned. The media don’t use this combination very often. When I saw [/FONT][FONT=맑은 고딕]홈런[/FONT][FONT=바탕]新 here, it reminded me of Lee Seung-yeop of the Samsung Lions in the domestic league(KBO). He hit the 352th homerun recently making the KBO record in HR. [/FONT]
