    quiero a decir "choosing spanish as a major of study is a big decision to be made" en español, es ¨elegir español como una especialidad de estudio es un gran decisión para tomar¨ correcto? si no, como se dice? gracias=)

    Elegir español como asignatura/estudio principal supone una decisión importante.

    "A major of study" is not natural in American English. You could say "as a major", and that would be enough.

    ivanovic's suggestions are good ones. :)

    Por ejemple, puedo decir 'eligir español como una carrera' o 'tengo una carrera en espanol' = I have a degree in Spanish language ??

    Yo lo diría asi: escoger español como mi licenciatura es una gran decisión a tomar.
