afianzado

    AFIANZADO. En un contrato, el Asegurado está reclamando a la Aseguradora que le pague una suma de dinero que el Afianzado incumplió en pagarle. Les agradecería informarme cómo sería la traducción al inglés de esta palabra.

    Muchas gracias, José Manuel. Yo estaba pensando en traducir Afianzado en este contexto como Guaranteed party ya que el Asegurado lo traduje como Insured Party. ¿Qué opinas?

    If the Asegurado is making a claim against the Aseguradora for money that the Afianzado has failed to pay, I would not call the Afianzado the "secured party." A secured party is a creditor, not a debtor.

    More context is needed (including whether you are talking about a UK legal document, a US legal document, etc.) to give an accurate reply, but in the absence of more context, I would refer to the Afianzado as the principal debtor and the Aseguradora as the guarantor (or surety, again depending on context).

    Thank you. Yes, you are right. Debtor would be the best translation for this word.
