after I have read it

In English: I swear that I who am about to read this letter will destroy it after I have read it.

My attempt: Obtestor me hanc epistulam lecturum eam perditurum esse cum eam legero.

Is this correct? I have a feeling that the cum-clause is way off base.

    rajahbeloof may find this neater:

[ego] hanc epistulam lecturus obtestor me lectam perditurum esse.

Does the participle "lectam" translate into the "after I have...&c"?

Thank you very much for your assistance, and indeed your version was much more compact than mine was.
