    ORIGINAL ITALIAN:
Ma al di là di questa "linea rossa" che collegherà tra di loro alcune puntate, ogni episodio della serie sarà completamente autoconclusivo.

    CONTEXT:
This comes from a text about to a cartoon series that has a modern, moral theme that links all the episodes together and that they have referred to as "linea rossa" here.

    QUESTION:
It doesn't make sense to me in English to merely translate "linea rossa" as "red line". What would be the translation for "linea rossa" here?

    Thanks!

But apart from this "red line" which will link/connect among them some of the cartoon series, every episode of a series will be completely on its own....

Aspetta la conferma di un madrelingua

Linea rossa dosen't make any sense in Italian either!

    It's a guiding line

    For "autoconclusivo", what about "self-contained"?

Actually, for "autoconclusivo" I simply wrote:

...each episode has its own ending.

Credo debba aprire un nuovo thread per questa seconda domanda. Comunque la soluzione da lui proposta per me è buona

Actually, it wasn't a part of the question at all...
