As strong as an ox

    Scotland - English
    In french, if I want to say "as ____ as an ___" eg, as stong as an ox, as quiet as a mouse etc...would "coi comme un souris" work? Does "comme un" convey the right meaning.

    Would something like "Aussi calme qu'un souri" make more sense.

    It depends on the sentence but generally we say :
    - il est fort comme un boeuf (he's as strong as an ox)
    - il est calme comme une image (he's as quiet as an image ==> we don't say here as quiet as a mouse)
    Grammatically, "aussi calme qu'une image" is correct but sentences up above are better...

    On dit surtout "sage comme une image" (pour la rime interne probablement;) ).
