Can I use the expression to bridge the gap as the equivalent of to improve relations between two companies?

    This is the sentence:

Through my work, I have been able to bridge the gap between the company and the client.

"Bridge the gap" adds a little more ambiguity to the sentence, the listener may wonder was exactly that means...

What I want to say is that this person brought the company and the client closer together.
