    Hi to everyone,

I was just wondering, is it okay to translate "cabbage roll" as "rollito de repollo" in Spanish? Although I am trying to describe a Ukrainian dish in Spanish, perhaps there's something similar in Spain or Latin America...

Thanks in advance for an answer to my first post.

Thythia, in some countries cabbage is "col" instead of "repollo", so it would be a rollo de col in those countries.

    Maeron,
Thank you for clarifying. Perhaps you are aware of the Ukrainian dish holubtsi (golubtsy in Russian), which is different to what Marduke described (basically a "spring roll", common to many Asian cuisines and better known than the Ukrainian dish). Holubtsi uses the cabbage itself as a wrapper to the filling (relleno), while the spring roll uses a rice or egg wrapper. There are differences, too, about the filling as you described. Spring rolls in general use fresh vegetables and chicken or shrimp.

    Araceli,
    Thythia:)
