    Grazie in anticipo.

Well, you say "art film" for films - for songs this genre is usually "pop" but I would use singer and song writer for De André - or classic pop

    song of the writer-singer
    singer-writer song
    singer-author song

    Mmm... not sure.

Today at least, "POP" is used mostly for commercial music.
Also Eros Ramazzotti is labeled as "Pop", but frankly I would never put De André and Ramazzotti on the same category :D

Appunto - classic pop not commercial!

    Grazie mille!

    My suggestion is ...
    "The song writer's song"
    or
    "The writer's song"

De André was a socially committed singer-songwriter and poet.
His music genre is/was also labelled as folk.
Isn't there a deeper definition for his music?
    :)

The most important international references for De Andrè's music have been Bob Dylan (he sang a translation of "Desolation Row") and Georges Brassens (he sang translations of "Le gorille", "Mourir pour des idées" and others).
Can these be classified as folksingers? I think so, as in the case of Leonard Cohen, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell and other committed singers. Maybe chansonnier could fit too, but I'm not sure if it's currently used in English.
