    No, "site manager' is nonspecific.

    To specify the boss of a cantiere edile, I'd use 'construction site manager' or 'construction foreman'.

    No, è molto generale come termine, "site" inteso come cantiere di costruzione di qualsiasi cosa, quasi! Bisogna specificare il tipo di cantiere se non si evince dal contesto.

    Cantiere edile: building site, quindi building site manager.

    Capocantiere (ferroviario): railway site manager....

    EDIT: sorry, Ike! Mind you, at least this way we give both the AE and BE terms!
