I have a little trouble with the word 'check'...

    it is said:

    a) check by someone
    b) check by a tool
    c) check with someone
    d) check with a tool

can I say all of these? Thank you.

context would help a lot, yes it is possible to check by the house ect to search for something.
I am going to test this piece of wood, by smashing it with a hammer.

But if I say "the house was checked/inspected by the buyer" would be right and "the house was checked with an inspector (people together)" or "the house was checked with/by a x tool" would be o, too. ?
