cotejó/eca

    Birth certificate from Guerrero, Mexico. In the left-hand bottom margin it reads: "Cotejó/eca."

    I think that "cotejó" means "compared," but I am not sure about that in this context, and I am lost with regards to "eca." Please help.

    "Cotejó/eca." = Checked by: eca.
    ECA would be the initials of the person who checked/verified the information, particularly when issuing copies of birth certificates, so that it is the same as the record book.
