"Attorney", yes. But when a judge addresses a lawyer in court with: "you may proceed, counsel," or "counselor," how do you say that in Spanish? "Adelante, Doctor" sounds more than a little pretentious.

Surely it's not "Puede proceder, abogado"(?)

    Thanks,
    RH

The term doctor is used in Argentina as a mode of address while most other countries use letrado or licenciado for the same.

    Thanks, Don.

So ... "Adelante, licenciado" = "you may proceed, counsel", right?

Only someone who has been in a Spanish or Latin-American courtroom can answer that question with real-life experience.

    ¿Dónde lo has escuchado?

ten (10) calendar days following the execution hereof, an unqualified
legal opinion that neither an Export License nor a Shipbuilding Permit or
similar consents to the construction and exportation of the Vessel are
    required,..........................

MI PROBLEMA ES"Except where independent counsel to Builder gives Shipowner,"
    GRACIAS DE ANTEMANO
