crooked smile

    Hi!! I am reading the book "the girl with the dragon tatoo"
    I found this expression to describe a smile that She (the girl) had on her face while talking to someone...

    "crooked smile" does it mean "a clever smile"? Maybe a kind of "cunning smile"?

    It could mean any of those, yes.

    I tend to think that a crooked smile has something to do with someone having attitude, if that helps!
