    Le cinéma, dès qu'il s'engage, selon le mot de Méliès, dans la "voie théatrâle spectaculaire", emprunte du même coup son maquillage au théâtre.

    Ma Tentative
    As soon as the cinema begins in -in the words of Melies - its "spectacularly theatrical way", it copies the theatre makeup at the same time.

    Something like:
    When the cinema takes the "spectacular theatrical path", at the same time, it borrows - according to Méliès - its make-up from the theatre.
