How could I translate "Service de développement des publics" into English?
This refers to a department, in a museum, in charge of finding new customers/visitors/public/....I don't know how to call them...
    Help please!
    Thanks

    How about:

    Customer-base Research Department

 but they come up with all sorts of strange job-descriptions these days!

Isn't there another word than "customer"? I mean, it implies buying sth or selling sth, and the museum people don't want to be regarded as businesspeople... although they have to find money somewhere...

    "Visitor-profile Research Department" ?

Thanks, but doesn't your translation imply they're studying visitor-profile?
Because what they actually do is try to attract more people to the museum. Find more "customers" in other words.

Then I think we come down to "Marketing Department".
