danser devant le buffet

    What could the English phrase for "danser devant le buffet" - meaning watching food (or more generally goods) displayed while being unable to buy it because of... poverty.

    Probably "drooling against the glass".. that implies being an outsider and wanting something, with the understood notion that poverty is the cause.
