Je connais bien cette expression et toujours je trouve la phrase suivant un casse-tête:

Ce que j'avais de neuf à dire me parut d'autant plus urgent que j'avais plus de mal à le dire.

    La phrase précédante:

"Pour moi je ne peux discerner, je l'avoue, la part d'entêtement qui, peut-être, vint se mêler au besoin d'affirmation naturelle."

Qui peut m'aider? j'en serais reconnaissante...

What is your question exactly? It's a bit confusing.

    Hi
"all the more urgent that I found it hard(er) to express"
    How about it?

I think the problem is that sometimes the phrase is used for a comparison:

Dormir était d'autant plus important que d'aller au cinéma - Sleeping was all the more important than going to the cinema.

and sometimes it introduces the reason for something:

Your sentence - all the more urgent that/because ...

I'm sure that someone with a knowledge of grammar would express it better than I have done.
