    This phrase is found in a passage about the earliest Franciscan missionaries to leave Italy. How can it be translated correctly?

    CONTEXT:
    Non v'è migliore e maggiore indizio della fiamma di fede e d'amore di questi poverelli, e di chi li mandava, se non appunto questo; il tentare l'impresa senza essere provvisto di nessuno a dirittura dei mezzi umani atti a riuscirvi.

    ATTEMPTED TRANSLATION:
    ... the undertaking of the project without any one of them being provided with even some humanitarian means suitable for survival there.

    You're right, but mezzi umani is human means, such as cleverness or ability to do something different from animals.

    dei mezzi humani atti a riuscirvi = some basic human skills for surviving there ?
