I need to find out how to translate "desgrabar" (for example, something that was audio recorded and then "desgrabado"). THank you very much!

Tal vez me expresé mal. Cuando me refiero a desgrabar, hablo del proceso por el cual algo que está grabado, se pasa a papel. O sea, algo así como pasar del audio a lo escrito.

In English that is called transcribing a document.

Is that a universal use of "desgrabar" for "transcribe"?

Alejandro, you mean the tapescript, don't you?

    My try is:

'to make an audio tape transcription'

    Hope it helps!

I may be wrong, but from the description given by Alejandro he is refering to the process of transcribing where something is dictated into a recorder (common practise for attorneys) and later transcribed unto paper...the common term in Spanish (according to this dictionary) is transcribir

You're right. But in Argentina we say 'desgrabar', though the word does not exist. It's only used by translators or people who do that kind of job.
I used to work for a company and was often asked to 'desgrabar' the conference or meeting they had had. They used to give me the tapes (cassettes) and say: Please, don't skip any word.

Yes, desgrabar is transcribir, to transcribe. I have done it.

Thanks everyone! I guess transcribe is the word I was looking for.
