Does anyone know what a "desktop study" is, or how to translate it into Spanish? My googling has led me to call it an "estudio de cumplimiento." Any suggestions?

Desktop study is learning from secondary sources (books etc) rather than through doing one's one research etc.

    Hi uio,

I was surfing the Internet, looking for this too. I have found that a 'desktop study' is a written report that collates any data about the site, or whatever, for example, site history, land use, geology, feasibility for sth, etc. It may also include a visit to the site. I have also found it as 'estudio documental' or 'estudio preliminar'. Anyway, it might be a good idea to translate it but include the words in English in brackets, just in case. Hope this helps!

Thanks...always a good idea to use the brackets when unsure of a translation!
