    Hello all,

I am wondering what French people say when they greet each other in the afternoon...Is it "Bon après-midi" or just "Bonjour"?

    Merci d'avance.

    Just bonjour.

You say bonjour anytime before 6pm, generally. (correct me if I'm wrong)

We also say bon après-midi, but more often than not it will be when we're leaving a place, say, a shop.
    « Vingt-quatre euros soixante, s'il vous plaît.
    --Voilà.
    --Merci, bon après-midi, madame.
    --Merci, vous aussi. »
In my area people tend to say "bonsoir" no matter what the time is. Other French people think it rather strrange.

    Hello,
    Personnellement j'utilise :
quand : en arrivant - en quittant
le matin : bonjour - bonne journée
    l'après-midi : bonjour - bon après-midi
le soir : bonsoir - bonne soirée
tard : bonsoir - bonne nuit
    Hope it helps!
