    ..."il n’eut pas, pour cette raison, la possibilité de donner à son oeuvre toute la mesure de ses connaissances et de ses talents."

    I'm having trouble translating this bit. It is about a scholar who died too young.
    Here is my lame attempt :
    "and therefore his great work did not benefit from the great extent of his knowledge"
    I'm sure I could have done better.... Can someone help me?

    How about:

    "He was, therefore, unable to devote the full extent of his knowledge and ability to his great work/masterpiece"
