I think it's the same in general.
But maybe drugstores are not always required to have a pharmacist if they only sell medicine but not make them.
In pharmacies they can prepare prescription medicine.

In a drugstore you can buy several thing. pharmacy is only for meds or what I call "bathroom suplies": shampoo, tissues, etc.

The drugstore is the place where you can buy aspirin, shampoo, toilet paper and a coke, they also have a pharmacy where you buy the prescription drugs. If you call CVS [a drugstore chain in the East Coast] when they answer you request the pharmacy to find out if your prescription is ready to be picked up.

Sorry, but I think it's the other way around.
And quote "The drugstore is the place where you can buy aspirin, shampoo, toilet paper and a coke, they also have a pharmacy where you buy the prescription drugs. If you call CVS [a drugstore chain in the East Coast] when they answer you request the pharmacy to find out if your prescription is ready to be picked up"

We don't say drugstore in the UK. That might imply the sale of illegal substances!
    We say Pharmacy or Chemist's.

    Gracias Masood por tu aclaración.
Por lo visto, "drugstore" en US y en GB tienen distintas acepciones.
    Saludos
