duck dives(dive) into the water

    Hello:

    In this picture (link2), the duck in the bottom of the picture was swimming on the water, then it put its head in the water suddenly, can I describe this fast movement as "the duck is diving into the water" ?

    You can't say "into the water," because the duck was already in the water. I would probably say it dove below the surface of the water.

    Since the duck is already swimming in the water, I think I would say, 'diving under ​the water'.
