EA: توصيلة

    I found myself over Christmas wanted to tell a friend, who's a taxi driver, that "I didn't call you for a ride (or lift), I called to wish you a Merry Christmas"...

    Similarly, I've also wanted to say "Thanks for the ride/lift".

    In the WR dictionary they have توصيلة listed under ride (as a means of transportation)... would this be the correct word to use in the above two examples or is
    there a more colloquial word?

    Yes توصيلة is the exact word you can use.

    عربي (مصر)ـ | en (gb)
    It is a colloquial word used in Egypt - it's not used in MSA.
