East Iranian Word-Initial Lenition

    What could be the reasons that word initial lenition (e.g., /d/ > /l/) occurs in some East Iranian languages ([FONT=&amp]e.g., [/FONT][FONT=&amp]Bactrian, [/FONT][FONT=&amp]Pashto, [/FONT][FONT=&amp]Munji-[/FONT][FONT=&amp]Yidgha) but not in others?
