el monto de lo distraído [embezzlement]

    Any suggestions for translating "distraído" here?

    "Cuando el monto de lo distraído o de los fondos utilizados indebidamente exceda de mil quinientas veces el salario mínimo diario vigente en el Estado... se impondrá una pena de..."

    Thank you so much, Friendly Bob! At first, I thought it was a typo for "sustraído", given that the document deals with embezzlement, but now I see that the word "distrajo" is also used in the same document, so it is clearly as you say.

    It would not have been an intuitive guess for me! I did look it up in the DRAE prior to posting my question here, by the way (I always do), but "Entregado a la vida licenciosa y desordenada" seemed (to me) to refer to a person, rather than an action.

    Anyway, I greatly appreciate your taking the time and making the effort to respond!

    We can also use the expression desviar fondos (for distraídos).
