This is the heading on a form I'm translating:

    Enfermedades graves y operaciones quirúrgicas

I'm having trouble with operaciones quirúrgicas.

My attempt is this: serious illnesses and surgeries.

I found a thread with "operaciones quirúrgicas" in it, but it didn't seem quite right and "surgical operations" sounds kind of redundant.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

I would go for 'surgeries'. It does seem redundant to say 'surgical operations'.

    HTH :)

Agree with Brisita. It's repetitive in English. I would also use surgeries or surgical procedures.

I like surgical procedures. Both are good, but I am leaning more towards that one. Thank you both, Brisita and EricEnfermero. : )

What is the context? Is it a form to be filled out by patients? Or is it a form used for documentation by healthcare providers?

It's a form and that is one of the headings, Eric.
