Hi! Is there a difference between enquête and sondage? If I'm referring to a survey with multiple choice questions and structured questions, what would I use? Is "enquête" used appropriately in this sentence: "Selon une enquête réalisée en ligne auprès de 18 lycéens singapouriens apprenant le français en 2008."? Is the whole sentence okay and fluid?

    Thanks!

Do you mean that the students were learning French in 2008 or that the survey was carried out in 2008?

Both! The survey was carried out in 2008 and the students were still learning French at that time! So it is alright like that?

It sounds fine to me but I might say:

I would say that "enquête" is the survey (topic) and "sondage" the way you make your survey (sample, or poll).
We can say in french "l'enquête PAR sondage", that means "SAMPLE SURVEY".

    My 2 cents:
You seem to be describing a sort of market research, or survey, with students. If this is the case, "enquête" might be too heavy, as it is akin to say "enquiry". I prefer the word "sondage" as it was done on the web; you can have a "sondage par téléphone" or 'sondage en ligne"
