    Me parece que no es tan seguro que ese algo que uno espera o desea suceda, sino todo lo contrario:

    "This is a major and worthy step --although one must hope that the US won't maintain a substantial military presence in Iraq, including..."
    "“One must hope that it is not as grave as it appears” said the headmaster."
    "One must hope that the leaders at the economic forum were listening..."
    "Simultaneously, one must hope that Almighty Allah accepts one’s deeds."
    "Although one must hope that the time will come when war will entirely disappear..."

    La incertidumbre acerca de lo que sucederá es esencial a esta expresión, que en mi opinión se traduciría con una frase del orden de "solo nos queda/resta esperar..."
