evvel / evvelsi

    What does 'evvel' mean?

    Also can you explain what suffix 'si' mean in this word 'evvelsi'?

    evvel=ilk. önce
    evvelsi= any time belongs to evvel(=past, before)
    evvelsi gün=the day that belongs to past that more far than yesterday
    sabah=in the morningakşamsı=in the eveningyatsı=sleeping time

    This (-sı/-si) suffix belongs to Trakya and Rumeli Turks' dialect(= Macır=Muhacir lehçesi) and is derelict in modern Turkish except some rare examples like "yatsı(the time between evening and night ), öncesi(=background), sonrası(=foreground) as in "Bu işin bir öncesi ve sonrası var".

    İs there any difference between 'evvel' and 'önce' or they can be used interchangeably?

    İf yes, than i would appreciate some sentences as example :)

    In most cases they are interchangeable.

    Milattan Önce/evvel=Before Christ

    Evvelden/önceden de söylediğim gibi=Like I said before ...
