faire suer des oignons

    Ca veut dire quoi, "suer des oignons dans un sautoir", dans une recette (d'un plat de légumes)
    En français ou en anglais, car je n'y comprends rien.

    That's "faire suer".
    It means remove the water it contains, and start cooking it at the same time.

    faire suer les oignons : leur faire perdre leur eau (et il faut faire attention à ne pas les laisser brunir). [...]

    je ne sais pas comment ça se dit en anglais par contre...

    I add my voice to Guerric's suggestion.

    Faire suer des oignons = to sweat onions.


    The other suggestions refer to faire fondre les oignons (to melt onions) and sauter des oignons (to sauté onions).
