    FOlks,

    What is "fiou"?

Émerger, frêle victorieux dans un château qui a pris l’eau, et comme un baume, des découvertes, des bijoux, fiou.

To emerge, frail and victorious, in a castle that has taken on water, and blah blah balm, discoveries, gems, fiou."

    Thanks.

"Fiou" means "Phew" to indicate relief. :)

I thought it might, but had no idea French had a word like that.

    Thanks.

Yes it is usually a mark of relief ! "Fiou on a eu chaud!" And here it rhymes with bijou fiou! more admiration !

Okay. Then is there a missing word?

Émerger, frêle victorieux dans un château qui a pris l’eau, et comme un baume, des découvertes, des bijoux, fiou.

To emerge, frail and victorious, in a castle that has taken on water, and, like a balm, FIND discoveries, gems, phew!

As in "et comme un baume, FAIRE des découvertes..."

Le narrateur est pris dans sa frénésie de la découverte et en délaisse la structure "normale" de la phrase!

I'm translating a text from Quebecois joual to standard French and "fiou" has that meaning in the text (Fiou! je suis sauvée!)

Is that word correct or is there a better equivalent in standard French?

En France on dit aussi Fiou?

    C'est une onomatopée.
On le dit, on le siffle, on l'écrit peu.
Vous pouvez le garder, d'autant que celà rime avec bijou. Et le faire suivre d'un point d'exclamation.
frêle victorieux dans un château qui a pris l’eau, et comme un baume, des découvertes, des bijoux, fiou !
