Football terms: "Metió un gol de falta"... y más

    Hi guys!

    Here there are some terms tht I'd like to know in English to have football conversation with my friends:

    - Que jugada!
    - Metió un gol de falta.
    - El Athletic de Bilbao solo utiliza jugadores de la cantera.
    - Gol en propia puerta.
    - Saque de banda.

    -Qué jugada!= What a move!
    -Metió un gol de falta. = He scored a foul
    -El Athletic de Bilbao solo utiliza jugadores de la cantera=Atlhetic de Bilbao plays with junior players only
    -Gol en propia puerta=own goal
    -Saque de banda=throw in

    Hiya! I agree with El Piter in the last two expressions but not in the rest of them. I would say:

    - Que jugada! = What a play!
    - Metio un gol de falta = He scored a free-kick or from a free-kick
    - I don't know how to translate "de la cantera" but I don't agree with "junior players"

    Hola!

    Algunas de las traducciones ofrecidas arriba no me parecen totalmente correctas. Aquí en Inglaterra diríamos:

    ¡Qué jugada! - What a move!

    Metió un gol de falta - He scored from a free-kick

    El Athletic de Bilbao solo utiliza jugadores de la cantera - Athletic Bilbao only uses players from it's all-Basque squad (creo que es la mejor manera de traducir "la cantera")

    Gol en propia puerta - An own goal

    Saque de banda - A throw-in
