FR: Aucun des romans n'était intéressant

    Aucun des romans n'était intéressant. = None of the novels were interesting.
    Tous les romans étaient intéressants. = All the novels were interesting.

    Isn't the opposite of "all novels" "no novels" (not "none of those/these novels")? I would make the negation as:

    Aucun roman n'était intéressant.

    Sorry! I missed the definite article in English in the second sentence, which confused you.

    Aucun des romans n'était intéressant. = None of the novels were interesting.
    Tous les romans étaient intéressants. = All the novels were interesting.
    Aucun roman n'était intéressant. = No novel was interesting.
    Tout roman était intéressant. = Any novel was interesting. / All novels were interesting.

    You're right; I read "all novels" and then just saw "tout roman" in French. Sorry for the needless confusion!
