Hello, in the French history textbook (published in 1964) I found a phrase which seems incorrect: "Les successeurs de Charlemagne se sont partagés son empire". As far as i know, "se partager" isn't an essentially pronominal verb. The COD here is "empire", placed after "partagés". The successors haven't divided themselves ("se"), they divided the Empire between themselves. So, why does the participe accord here? Is that some old standard or just a negligence?
