    Hello,

In terms of a phrase like this:

Who would have thought that this is acceptable?

Can you translate it in both ways:
Qui aurait pensé que cela est acceptable?
    Qui penserait cela acceptable?

I feel there would be no difference in sense in English so is there in French?

    Thank you for any help!

There is the same nuance in both languages:

Qui aurait pensé = Who would have thought
Qui penserait = Who would think

    You could even say:

    'Qui l'eût cru'

Which is quite a fancy way of saying 'who would have thought' but with the imperfect subjunctive :)
